Ubaldo and colleagues in Puerto Rico use Strategic Doing (SD) to accelerate the development of startup and innovation ecosystems to achieve economic prosperity. He coordinated SD workshops with government agencies, academic institutions, professional organizations, and no-profits around challenges related to economic development, recovery efforts from natural disasters, and academic and administrative transformation. He explores how highly distributed, loosely connected networks work together towards mapping their assets. He is also interested in the emergence of new governance structures based on distributed leadership in higher education. Ubaldo is a professor of chemical engineering at the University of Puerto Rico – Mayagüez, former Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs of the University of Puerto Rico System, and member of the Board of Trustees of the Puerto Rico Science, Technology & Research Trust.
